Foumbam, Cameroon

Foumbam, Cameroon

Foumbam is located at the West Region of Cameroon and it’s so different from the rest of the country. The main religion in Foumbam is Muslim and people here dress more like in Zagora and Senegal than the rest of Cameroon.

Cameroonian Lunch at Limbe

Cameroonian Lunch at Limbe

Cameroon had been colonized by the German, English and French. It’s cuisine is unique and delicious and I am so happy to have a chance to taste the national dish-Ndole at Martine’s family friend house! I believe it’s the best experience I had so far because unlike eating it at a restaurant, I saw how this national dish is made from Scratch!

Limbe, Cameroon

Limbe, Cameroon

I love Cameroon, not just because my travel partner is from there. It’s also because the place is so clean, the air is so fresh, food have so many varieties and many people grow fruits and vegetables everywhere!! I can see people do really love life and love to eat. That’s the 2 things I feel it’s very important. Just check out the first Rubbish Bin I have ever seen in West/central Africa and you will understand:P

Limbe Wildlife Center, Cameroon

Limbe Wildlife Center, Cameroon

My visit to the Afi Mountain Drill Ranch was a failure and I didn’t see any Drill Monkeys at all. In Cameroon, I am able to see this endanger animal finally. Although I didn’t see them “in the wild”, it still make me very happy:)

Benin City, Nigeria

Benin City, Nigeria

I have not stayed in Nigeria long enough and I didn’t even go to the capital and Lagos! But My feeling was-West African countries who have been colonized by the French definitely have a better vibe than other West African countries. At least those places are more clean and food are much better! In Nigeria, the food variety is terrible and they seems not to be interested in Farming at all. Needless to say the local fashion is boring and westernized! Everyone seems to like wearing tee shirts and pant rather than traditional African clothing. Road is not terrible but during a rainy day can be really disturbing.

Calabar and Afi Mountain, Nigeria

Calabar and Afi Mountain, Nigeria

One of the highlight to tour around Nigeria is to visit The Drill Rance in Afi Mountain area at Nigeria. As usual, the guidebook misleading information and the harsh environment in West Africa disappointed me! There’s a very bad landslide which completely destroyed the canopy and waterfall around Afi mountain area and we could only visit the Drill Monkey for 30 minutes! So as the local motorbike people tries to rip us off. We see NO monkey, NO waterfall and NO canopy…but the whole journey was still an awesome experience:)
