Stilt villages were built in Lake Nokwe where people in the old days tried to escape enslavement by the Kings of Dahomey. The Dahomey believed a terrible demon lived in the lake, and their ruthless warriors dared not set foot in its waters. The Tofinu had finally found their peace, and were determined to hang on to it.Funny things was when I went to Abomey-the former capital of the ancient kingdom of Dahomey, the law of Dahomey at the Royal palace stated that no one should sell their own people as slave!!! Shamed on the King for selling their Own people!! Everyone should know that although European are responsible of the brutal Slave Trade, but that would never be possible if no LOCAL people betrayed and sold their own People!![Read more…]

Quidah is the birthplace of Voodoo, so they say. Before I hit sub-sahara, I already heard so many things From Martine regarding the Black Magic in cameroon. she told me her family would hang Their Ancestor’s skulls in the living room and worship them. She found it really disturbing. However, after I visit Quidah, I found out Voodoo is more than Black Magic or Human Skull worshipping. It truly amazing to find out the meaning of it although I was pretty scared at the beginning:P
I always love butterfly so when I found out there’s a butterfly walk near Kpalime, Togo, I hired a car from the lake resort in Lome to go there. People told me it would took me 2 hours to get there and OFCOURSE IT TOOK MORE THAN THAT! I went there at around 11am and arrived there at 2pm. If anyone want to see the butterfly, it’s better to arrive there at noon since all the butterfly will come and drink water in the waterhole![Read more…]
I am currently in Lome, Togo staying at a beach resort again. To be honest, I am sick and tired of waiting for visa approval but traveling around West Africa required you to obtain tourist Visas before you enter their countries and they make it really hard for you to get it. I do not want to say why they do that but that’s the fact. Even after you pay huge amount of money, they still do not want to give it to you. Anyway, I like lome afterall:) It’s a much cleaner country than Ghana and people are less agressive. They sell many different kind of vegetables in the market and the food are delicious there. Togo used to be a French colony afterall so I found all the African countries that used to be a french colonies tend to have really really good food!
If you have read my post-How to travel around Ghana, you will know people told me all the Monkey in Tafi is Dead! And they don’t know where is Wli Waterfall. So, the other day, I had my 2nd attempt to go there and this time I finally met some local who knew something about their country:P It’s a LONG DAY afterall because it took me 3 1/2 hours from Somanya to Wli.
