The Hidden Side of Rhodes

The Hidden Side of Rhodes

When most holidaymakers think of Rhodes, they think of bustling Lindos, low-key Kolymbia or perhaps the lively nightspot of Faliraki. Unless you’re a regular to the island, you probably won’t be acquainted with the resort of Archangelos. But if you fancy a trip to Rhodes this year that’s a little bit different, then now’s the time to introduce yourself.

Rhodes Island - Greece
Located on the East coast of Rhodes, Archangelos holidays are typically quiet and laid-back. You won’t find lively clubs or bustling Irish bars here – instead you can expect to enjoy a much more authentic Greek experience. The town of Archangelos – named after its patron Archangel Michael – is a lovely affair with sugar-cube houses and a distinctly time-honoured flavour, where residents work in the same trades as their forefathers and hold dear their wonderful local traditions.

The church of the Archangel Michael is a lovely centrepiece of the town and numerous surrounding buildings have been painted in bright colours, offering a magnificent picture-postcard scene.

If a trip to Archangelos takes your fancy, there are numerous ways to get here. You can organise your own flights to Rhodes Airport – Diagoras International – and book your own accommodation. There are numerous bus routes from the airport to Archangelos, or you could look into taxis – but be sure to check the fare with the driver first to avoid shocks later on!You’ll also find select package holidays available to Archangelos. Check out the various Thomas Cook holiday bargains on offer which often come in the form of late deals, or search online for other emerging tour operators which are organizing holidays to this corner of Rhodes.

Archangelos is a peaceful and little known part of the island. But just like many other wonderful resorts in Greece, it probably won’t remain a secret for long… So come and enjoy this hidden side of Rhodes before the rest of the world finds out. *All photos are clips from the internet.
