Marrakech, Morocco

I believe Marrakech is the most famous city in Morocco. However, it’s just another TOURISTIC city to me:P But do I still have the time of my life????…ofcourse:) This is because Moroccan people are one of the craziest people in the world, just like me:P I stayed in an Apartment for 3 nights and it’s absolutely lovely(and Modern). In the evening, I went to the club and Lounge and spot the Mulsim girl wearing sexy dresses just like any girls in a club at NYC. It’s just so fascinating since Muslim people have a very strict dress code and regardless how westernized Marrakech is, there’s still a lot of things are consider illegal-kissing, wearing mini-skirt and sleeveless tops, etc!!

BUT….Marrakech is the Only Moroccan City with many many Female Motorcyclists and there are more Motorcycles than cars on the road which I find truly amazing:P

And Ofcourse I was touring around town on a Motorcycle for a bit:P

Marrakech is just like Prague to me–Another Theme Park for Tourists. There are too many constructions going on and too many big hotels and fake traditional costumes over there that I really do not enjoy to see:P

People would grap your camera and took photos, but all they want was money afterward!

Marrakech is called the Rose-City or Red-City because all the buildings are Coral/Red in color:) Even the Mosque:)

The Square (Djemaa El-Fna) in Marrakech is really pretty:) And you can buy loads of things from there:P However, I tried to find a Camera filter lens but have no luck getting one. I need one because I dropped my camera on the Marble floor previously and luckily only the filter len broke! My heart almost stop when I saw the broken glasses on the floor. From now on, I will never ever let this happen again!!!!

You guys have no idea how HARD IS MY JOB! My head and neck is aching like crazy these day because my camera gear is SO HEAVY! I bought  pain reliving cream and have to take pain killer these few days! That’s why when I knew there’s Hammams in Marrakech… I definitely need to try:P

I did the 30 mins Hammams at below which the lady scrubs me from head to toe and applied Clay on my body. Then it’s a hour long Massage which was really so refreshing. Compared to the Turkish Bath Tourist Trap in Turkey (the Turkish Bath I had in Istanbul is NO GOOD)….this is definitely much better. Just chck out the happy smile on the customer’s face and you will agree with me:)

  6. Dearest Tammy,
Good thing that you had a great time in Marrakech and got some nice photos. Muslim women on motorcycles is not unique for there, visit Jakarta, Indonesia or any city there and you see many! Comparing Marrakech with Prague however shows that you don’t know that much about history. Sure, Marrakech has its own culture but it will remain nowhere in comparison with Prague and its rich Classical Music! Calling Prague a Theme Park is also weird… It is a city dating back to the 9th Century with old buildings still around and in perfect maintained shape.
Guess the pain relievers caused you to write this… Hope you feel better now!
    Take care and observe.

    • Hey Mariette, understand what you said and it’s true that I might not know the history of Praque. But when I said it look like a theme park I just meant it’s the place is totally for tourist now and NOT for real people who live there:)…I will try to learn more history about Praque and I am sure I will love it again:)

  11. Lovely pictures as always. I am amazed by how different lifestyle is there. Such a strict dress code and all. So different from here where anything goes as long as you are wearing clothes.

And YIKES!! I’m so glad only the filter broke on your camera when you dropped it. My biggest fear is dropping my camera. My heart would just stop if I destroyed it.

    Happy Travels Tammy!! 🙂

  12. Omg My heart dropped when I read your camera filter lens is broken from being dropped, I think I’d die! >< I also feel so bad for your neck because I understand how heavy cameras can get, even though my camera is relatively small compared to a real dslr! Take good care of your neck!!! And I hope you feel better soon~

It's a shame that the baths in turkey aren't very good, I always imagined having one there but now I'm not so sure but I'm glad you had a good massage cause you really needed it and thanks so much for the info about the cities!

  15. I haven’t been to Marrakech, but it does look pretty tourity to me too.
Those people in fake traditional costumes are like the gladiators in front of the Collosseum in Rome – wanting to take photos for money! I really don’t like that…
Otherwise, the city looks quite nice, with all the rose-colored walls 🙂

  16. Ahh, that’s so sad about your camera lens 🙁 I would be devastated if that happened to mine. It was recommended to me that I use filters also but I wasn’t sure how they worked exactly. I bought one but it was too small for my camera and I’m just kind of confused about their function/or how they protect the lens.

I love those pants you’re wearing, btw! And Marrakech seems wonderful- especially the shopping! 🙂
