I arrived Tunisia Yesterday and got picked up by a transfer to Sousse-a resort town famous for its beautiful beaches:). So, after US issued a travel warning to this country, a lot of people’s concern is-IS IT SAFE IN TUNISIA?!
Well, I don’t know about Tunis, but Sousse is PERFECTLY SAFE! First, I saw tons of People flying from UK and Madrid and stay at some very nice resorts over there(I know cus my transfer shuttle picked up a few of them!) Then I woke up this morning and went outside for a walk by myself. First, I went to the bank to exchange money because everyone said people will get a better exchange rate at the bank(1 dinar is like 0.5 British Pounds). After that I walked along the cost to Mediana-a UNESCO Heritage Site. Ofcourse traveling as a solo female, all men passed by will say something to you like- OH Sax-SI, U Oh you are So BE-Tee-Ful:P. To protect yourself, what you need do is- IGNORE THEM:P Avoid Eye contact. Other tricks they used maybe -Oh, I work at your hotel, you didn’t recognize me? Oh no jerk, I don’t:P I just want to take photos of YOUR WOMEN:PI saw local Tunisian Girls dress like above:P..amazing:P..But ofcourse NOT everyone dress like this, Tunisia still is a very traditional country and Normal Girl will dress in a very western way but with a Hijab.
I feel so safe all by myself walking all alone in this country except one thing-Crossing the street! I hate crossing street in Arabic Country LIKE SERIOUSLY! You will not see any crossing signal at all except you have to Bravely cross the road while you see all the cars are coming towards you-That happened to me in EYGYPT also. So scary, I always screamed on the way:P!!! But I am so happy with all the beautiful people posting for me and they seems very happy also:P
Then I met up with the beautiful 20 years old Tunisian girl and because I asked her for direction, she became so interested in what I was doing:P Ofcourse I told her and everyone I am from Hong Kong:P…including those people kept saying OH You SAX-SI, You are So BEU-TEE-FAL:P–NO eye contact remember?!!:P
Then she followed me around to Medina which I actually do not mind at all:P. She speak perfectly good English and she told me school in Tunisia teach all kinds of language-French, English, Arabic and German!! Wow!!! What?!!! Anyway, I asked her so many questions regarding the dress code in Tunisia and she told me people who dress in Niqab normally is required by their husband and NOT every girl have to dress like that:). But people normally do put on Hijab because it’s more modest:)
And of-course I went shopping. There’s so many shops that sell traditional tunisian Clothing’s and Jewelry’s:) And Ofcourse I did bought a lot of stuff:)
I bought a couple of dresses from different stores, if you want to see more photos, do check it out on my Facebook because some pictures I won’t show in here:)
We went to the inside of the Great Mosque:)
And I love this photo so much:) She is so CUTE!
Since she is too adorable and tried to be my tour guide, I have to buy her lunch:)
Then we headed to Museum Dar Essid-It’s where a Bey used to live:)
He used to got so many wives and his house is Luxurious!!
After that, I went to swim at the beautiful ocean..alone:) But I have to tell all of you, the water is NOT that great:P Not Clear, not blue , Not green:P
Finally, I went outside at night to have dinner:) I saw a lot of european tourists and I felt really safe:) If you want to check out what I ate for 35 British pounds, do follow me on Google +
Cheers everyone:)

I know what you mean about NO eye contact. My girlfriend traveled with her boyfriend in Tunisia and she looked at a traditional clothed man and he got mad about it and asked her boyfriend to sell her. He offered for her 25 camels. For us Europeans this is very strange habit, so they laugh about it which was wrong because he got more angrier. My girlfriend was very afraid because the man started to pull her away from his boyfriend. After that they asked help from their guide and came home safe.
Manases Andrea recently posted..Haul and a small wishlist
does this really happened ? Tunisians haven’t this bullsh*t ( 25 camels? really ? ) and IF it does I think it’a an exceptional case ( pathetic man )
I was in Tunisia six years ago, I met a lot of friendly people.

I went to Morocco a few years ago and it was the same thing, lots of tourists in the big hotels, men talking to you on the street if you were alone and women dressed both in a traditional way and in a very modern European way. These North-African countries are very interesting in my opinions, you can see the culture clashes but you can also see the mix of cultures intertwining and coexisting peacefully (most of the times).
Fabulous photos! The photo of your guide showing her head from behind the wall is really sweet!
